Review: Elar's Lechon (Main Branch) Driven by a long-standing curiosity about one of Manila’s most iconic roasts, we finally visited the main branch of Elar's Lechon to see if it lived up to the hype. We are happy to report that the food itself is spectacular. We ordered the 1/4 kilo portion, which was surprisingly generous and more than enough for two people. The skin was the undisputed star—perfectly crispy with that glass-like shatter—while the meat remained impressively juicy and seasoned to the bone. We also branched out and tried their dinuguan, which offered a unique, savory flavor profile that stands out from the more typical, vinegary versions found elsewhere. However, the "main branch" experience was marred by some logistical frustrations. We arrived based on their advertised opening time, only to find they weren't actually ready for customers, causing an unnecessary delay. More disappointing was the service etiquette; despite being the first in line, we watched as another customer was seemingly prioritized over us for no apparent reason. While the culinary quality is undeniably high-tier, these inconsistencies in service and scheduling detract from what should be a seamless experience. It’s a must-visit for the flavor, but bring a little extra patience for the workflow.

Fast service and cold, air-conditioned atmosphere — perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Their lechon is hands down the best, whether you eat it with or without sauce. Also offers a variety of other dishes, not just lechon. The only downside is the limited parking space, but overall it’s a great karinderya-style restaurant that serves top-quality food.
